Why this bed

The floor got harder. She just stopped telling you.

A big dog carries her weight on the same few joints her whole life. Somewhere around seven, the hips and the elbows start to feel it, and a flat or worn-out bed lets her press straight through to the floor.

How it works

Egg-crate foam, and why it takes the pressure off.

A flat slab pushes back hardest exactly where she is heaviest. Egg-crate foam is peaked and valleyed, so it gives way under the hips and shoulders and holds everywhere else, spreading her weight instead of concentrating it.

  1. Removable cover

    It unzips all the way off in under a minute and goes straight in the machine. Getting it back on is not a wrestling match either.

  2. Waterproof liner

    This sits between the cover and the foam. Accidents, wet paws and spills stop here and never reach the core.

  3. Egg-crate foam core

    The peaks give way under her hips and shoulders while the valleys keep supporting her. Her weight spreads across the whole bed instead of pressing through a few sore points.

  4. Bolstered rim

    A natural headrest to lean into, the way most dogs already like to sleep.

  5. Non-slip base

    It grips the floor, so the bed doesn't shoot out from under her when she pushes herself up. On hardwood, this is the part that matters most.

How to measure her

  1. Wait until she's stretched out on her side, legs extended.
  2. Measure nose to the base of her tail, not the tip.
  3. Add about 6 inches. That's the length you want.

If she is between sizes, if she sprawls when she sleeps, or if she is older and getting up already matters, go up a size. A bed only works if she can lie right out on it.

How do I know it's the right size?

Measure her lying on her side with her legs stretched out, from her nose to the base of her tail, then add about 6 inches. Weight is a useful sanity check, but if her length and her weight point at different beds, trust the length. If she falls between two sizes, go up.

Can I really machine-wash the cover?

Yes. The cover unzips completely, washes cold on a gentle cycle and tumbles low. The waterproof liner underneath stays on and keeps the foam protected while the cover is off.

Will the foam flatten?

Egg-crate foam is built to rebound. The peaks compress under load and spring back, rather than packing down flat the way cheap poly-fill does. If your bed does lose its support, tell us and we will make it right.

What if my dog won't use it?
