How to pick the right size, the first time.
A bed she can stretch out on, not curl up tight in. Three measurements, two minutes, and a rule of thumb that’s saved a lot of returns.
Three measurements, two minutes.
Bigger isn’t wasteful. Bigger is the bed she actually uses.
-
Measure her, stretched out.
Wait for her to lie on her side with legs extended. Nose to base of tail. Write down the inches, she won't pose twice.
-
Add 6 inches of margin.
She needs room to sprawl, twist on her back, change direction. Six inches over the measured length is what we recommend across the board.
-
Sanity-check with her weight.
Use the table below as a guide. If her measured length and her weight point at different sizes, trust the length.
The sizes, in plain language.

What people actually ask.
Curling is a choice, not a constraint. A bed she can curl up on AND stretch out on is the comfortable one. Sizing down to match her curl makes her cramp later in the night.
Pick the size that fits the longer dog stretched out. Two dogs share by curling against each other; they don't share by squeezing into a too-small bed.
We size by inches, not by gut feel. The Apawrest L is 36 × 42, about the footprint of an ottoman. The bed disappears into the floor; the dog using it is what you'll notice.
